The manuscript, "Spontaneously Sticky Strategies: Strategy Selection in the Phonological Similarity Effect ", was officially submitted for publication by Dr. Angela AuBuchon and myself.
This fully-remote project, funded by a COBRE grant awarded to the Boys Town National Research Hospital, examined young adults' strategy usage over a standard serial recall task. The task presented phonologically similar and phonologically distinct words in which the standard Phonological Similarity Effect (PSE) was found. Furthermore, we found that strategy utilization influenced the size of the PSE found, noting that usage of both phonological and semantic strategies lessened the effect of the PSE.
